Daily Beam

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 6, 2026

Daily Beam collects no personal data.

Daily Beam is a small smile-habit app. It asks you to look at a cheerful picture and hold a smile for a few seconds. The camera is used only for live, on-device smile detection while a session is open.

Camera, TrueDepth, and face data

Daily Beam processes the front-camera feed live on your iPhone to estimate whether a face is present and whether you are smiling. On devices that support ARKit face tracking (including TrueDepth-equipped devices), Daily Beam reads only the temporary mouthSmileLeft and mouthSmileRight blend-shape values and whether a face is currently tracked. On other devices, Daily Beam uses Apple’s Vision face landmarks as a fallback. Daily Beam does not create a face scan, face template, biometric identifier, identity profile, depth map, photo, video, or recording, and does not use face data for identification, authentication, or profiling.

Use, sharing, retention, and storage

Face data is used only to determine whether you have held a smile long enough to complete a smile session and to drive the on-screen progress indicator. It is not used for advertising, analytics, or tracking. Camera images, TrueDepth/ARKit face data, and Vision landmarks are never saved, recorded, uploaded, sold, or shared. They exist only in your device’s memory during live processing and are discarded immediately after each detection pass. Face data is not shared with Apple, Vectorate, or any other third party, and is not stored locally or remotely. Because no face data is retained, there is no stored face-data record to delete.

Data collection

Beyond the temporary face processing described above, Daily Beam does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or track personal data. The app has no accounts, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or other third-party services.

Local data on your device

Daily Beam stores only local app state on your iPhone: smile-session counts by day (used for streaks and progress), settings such as reminder times, selected picture groups, hold duration, and onboarding completion, and local notification requests if you enable reminders. This information stays on your device. Deleting the app removes this local data.

Notifications

If you choose reminder times, Daily Beam asks iOS for notification permission and schedules local notifications on your device. Daily Beam does not send reminder data to a server.

Children’s privacy

Because Daily Beam does not collect personal data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
